Your Child Is in Great Hands

Philosophy

Citizens Care primary goal is to offer high a quality early childhood program enhancing the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being of the children.  We offer an inclusive and responsive program that addresses a critical achievement gap in the communities and serve through the following goals:

  • Emphasize positive educational and social outcomes for children and provide families with comprehensive support.

  • Maintain an engaging creative play curriculum promoting creativity, emergent literacy and  numeracy, build positive self-esteem and foster each child's ability to contribute as a responsible community member.

  • Support families to meet their goals. Align the resources to meet the needs of the families we serve, both of which are high-needs, low-income communities.

  • Maintain an effective partnership with Mental Health Consultants, refining our staff's ability to identify and meet needs of children.

  • Maintain an effective Family Engagement that acknowledges the diverse culture and reflects the funds of knowledge from the home and surrounding community.

Citizens Care is unique where we conduct a highly individualized & robust evaluation of each child’s socio-emotional & cognitive abilities within a process that values, welcomes, & takes into account parental input. We support families’ well-being & help them to meet their goals for themselves & their children.

Our Services

Citizens Care Day Care Center 1 & 3 are dedicated to providing services and programs that will benefit the educational, physical, intellectual, emotional health, and well being of our children and their families so that the community may flourish. We are committed to excellence in providing high quality childcare and early childhood education service to our community.

Citizens Care Day Care Center 1 & 3 aim to make playtime a learning experience for the preschool children. We will be complementing and extending the home environment by encouraging the participation of parents and family in all the activities of the program. Teachers carefully select, adapt, or change any of the activities to meet the needs, abilities, and interests of the group of children to ensure development appropriateness. We uphold the uniqueness of every child and provide a program that allows them to find their own uniqueness through exploration and inquiry. We encourage and provide opportunities for parents to participate in our program.

Our preschool program enrolls children between the age of 2 to 5. It is a comprehensive free (for eligible families) childcare and education support program for children. 3-K and Pre-K program is free for all children.  We accommodate families with extended day and extended year program.  Our centers are open 12 months a year (except major holidays)from 8 am to 6 pm.

  • Education:  A comprehensive education program using the Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum is implemented for the children. The education program actively involves parents, community partners, neighborhood organizations, and special service agencies. Field trips, neighborhood walk, and educational trips are an integral part of our curriculum. Children turn everyday into a day for exploration and discovery of the world around them. The ways in which sharing, working together, problem solving, and using their imagination makes growing up and learning with friends a fun filled experience. Throughout the year teachers check on the child’s cognitive and language skills, gross motor development, social and emotional integration, and the acquisition and enrichment of life skills. During the school year teachers conduct three assessments to find out how the child is progressing. The result from the assessment will be shared with parents during parent-teacher conferences.

  • Children with Special Needs:  Citizens Care Day Care Center is an all-inclusive program. Children with special needs are integrated to the mainstream. Referral, evaluation, and diagnostic treatments will be given by licensed therapist at the center. We collaborate with the professionals from the Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) of the New York Department of Education. In most instances, the child will receive services at daycare from licensed professionals.

  • Nutrition:  Children receive breakfast, lunch and snacks that are healthy and nutritious. Meals are funded by the Department of Health through the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP). Meals are served family style, conversing with friends while tasting and learning about foods. Children are encouraged to taste all the foods offered at meals.  We do not allow outside food due to children with allergies.  Parents are responsible for informing the school of any food allergies or restrictions.
